Mischief Managed

Since the room is now blocked off Sissy hasn't stolen babies again but now that she isn't stealing babies Momma is letting her baby sit when she wants to leave the room. I guess Sissy wants to mother the babies too and Momma doesn't mind. But She is saying things like "it's time to neuter all the males so that we don't end up with another batch of kittens". I tried to Google neuter but She couldn't mean THAT! She must know of another meaning that Google doesn't.

She hasn't done well all weekend! She has a bone out in her back and all the construction vibrations are making it hurt worse than normal. She can usually sleep for a while and the bone goes back in by itself but it isn't working with all the noise and vibration. The vibration is driving us nuts too! When they start early in the morning we start ricocheting off the walls and that's partly what has caused her bones to go out. We haven't learned not to jump from the headboard bookcase on her bed onto her stomach. When we do it she jerks so bad she knocks bones out of place.

When the noise dies down in the evening we collapse into the chair and sleep until it starts again in the morning. I will try to get a picture of Sissy with the babies but she seems camera shy right now. I did get a picture of me and JR snuggling up to sleep off the noise. The camera has a timer you can set and forget and it takes the photo while you are doing other things!

Sissy's Mischief

Yesterday She took the babies out of the bin they had been in and she made an enclosure for Momma and the babies. She lined it with soft blankies and Momma is much happier now that she has so much more space. Momma hasn't laid down on one of the babies yet in the new area. But Sissy is driving our poor human crazy! Sissy keeps sneaking into the nursery and stealing one of the babies and taking it to the hall or the living room! She realizes one is missing and goes looking for it and can't figure out how the babies that don't even have their eyes open and can't walk are managing to climb out of the enclosure that is 12 inches high! We are all rolling on the floor laughing because they aren't doing it by themselves. But She doesn't know that Sissy is the culprit. I don't know if Sissy is doing it as a joke or if she thinks Momma has so many this time that she can spare one for Sissy to mother. Either way it has come to a stop because the door is now blocked so Sissy can't get into where the babies are now. But its been great fun watching Her try to figure out how the babies are getting out!

I see Eyes!

Last night I sneaked into the babies and was trying to see if they were brothers or sisters and 3 of them had their eyes open! When we were babies we didn't open our eyes for 2 weeks and these little ones are only a week old. I sat there and just stared at the 3 that had their eyes open and they just stared back at me. I asked if they were brothers or sisters and the striped one said he was a brother and one of the all black ones said he was also a brother. The others are still so tiny that they don't answer me when I ask and Mama has forbidden me to climb into the nursery basket. But tonight something very special is going to happen. Today she is vacuuming the floor in the nursery and putting up the barrier so the new kittens can't get out of the room yet. Then she has shut the window and unblocked the heat vent. Then I heard Her say she was going to put the babies on the floor with clean bedding so that Mom and Dad can take care of them easier and so they will have more room.  That means I will be able to get many more pictures and I will be able to play with them more.

Last night She gave us a little green salad that was so much fun to eat and made us all feel woozy. Then we all went to sleep for several hours. I didn't like the sleeping for several hours but I loved the salad. Mom and Dad said it was call nip and they had it lots before but we had never had such a wonderful thing. It kind of made up for the fact that those noisy guys working on the street outside started banging and thumping at five minutes to 6 yesterday morning and She had a really bad day. This morning She is kind of looking lopsided and I think all the banging and thumping hurt her some how.

Oh No She just flushed the toilet so I got to get off here before she finds that I have a blog sight!

Strange Things are Happening

She has been doing some really strange things the past 2 days. We have always had lots of fun in the livingroom because She always has stacks of quilt blocks or magazines that we can knock over. The past 2 days She has been putting all her quilt blocks away and putting all out toys in our toy box. Then she turned on the monster that makes so much noise. It stole all the threads I had on the rug and She had to stop it several times to clean out another cat! When She was finished She had taken 5 giant furry balls out to the garbage can! We ran through the house and counted heads and all 13 were still here. So I wonder where the cats She sucked up into the monster came from.

In our whole life we have never seen the house like this. I had no idea the fuzzy floors had flowers on them! And now we can run through the house and bounce off the walls with out knocking things all over. We thought we would miss the stacks of stuff but it is so much more fun when you are running at mach 10 to not have to worry about getting hurt on pins and scissors. The only bad part of the deal is that She has been making funny wheezy noises and having to use these funny things that she puts in her mouth and then make her cough. She is not well at all after cleaning all those cats off the floors and furniture. I hope when she wakes up next time that she won't make all those weird noises trying to breathe.

I haven't been able to get the camera since she started cleaning because I used the batteries up last time. I have sneaked batteries onto her shopping list so as soon as She gets them I will take more pictures of the babies. The babies are all okay but Momma seems to be very hot. She said that Momma was going to have to go to the vet and Momma ran and hid. I don't know why she did that but she didn't want any part of what She was talking about.

Well the others are chasing back and forth across the house while She sleeps and I can't let them have all the fun without me.

Momma and Babies

I finally snuck into the nursery when Momma was feeding the newbies and snapped a couple of pictures. This is hard to do for 2 reasons. First Momma is camera shy and when she sees you with the camera she runs away if she can. Second Momma does not spend all her time in the basket with the new babies like she did when we were little. She leaves Daddy to watch the babies from above and she goes about the house eating and visiting but she never goes too far that if the babies make even a sound she runs back to the box.

New brothers/sisters

I promised photos of the new ones and here they are. I still don't know whether they are boys or girls but these are their pictures.
Now you get to try to figure out which one I got 2 shots of because I can't tell myself!

Uncle L E Oot

Today I got Uncle LE Oot to snuggle with me for a few minutes. Mama and Daddy are busy with the new family and all of us sophomores are feeling unloved and neglected.

Daddy's on duty

Baby Update

Just when we thought things were going to settle down Momma started acting weird and then she popped out another baby. This little one was born sleeping so after crying She wrapped it up with the other two who went to sleep. Now they are all safely laid to rest outside of Momma's favorite window. Mom and Dad are watching closely so I haven't been able to do anything but sneak a few more photos. It won't be long before Momma starts leaving the nursery for longer times and then I will sneak in and see if I can find out if I got brothers or sisters.

Boy She is pretty cranky right now. Between the road construction noise and the excitement of the new babies finally being born She hasn't slept much so I guess once she gets some sleep she won't be so short tempered. And Dad walks through the house bragging about having 6 new babies. But he is a very good Dad and helps keep an eye on the little ones.

Oh no...She is back up again! I will add a few photos and then I got to get away from the computer before she catches me.

Helpers

Sister and Me decided to supervise the loading of the dishwasher. We don't get the chance to do this very often but we take out chores very seriously. I am pointing out that the glass on the top shelf isn't supposed to go into the dishwasher. It says so right there on the bottom!

Dishwashers

Rub my tummy pretty please

The New Babies are here!

Well we be only 13 now. The little one that was born with a problem finally went to sleep. She came and took it away and got a beautiful piece of dark blue and black houndstooth velvet and she wrapped their little bodies up real nice and later today they will be laid to rest outside the window Momma always sits in. As you can maybe see from the photos we have 5 black babies and only 1 striped baby. The 2 that didn't make it were also all black. This time most of the babies take after Momma which is good because last time we mostly looked like Daddy.

Daddy's Watch

The New Babies are here!

My momma just spent the last 4 hours giving birth to 8 tiny little brothers and sisters but Momma nor Daddy will let us Sophomores near the nursery basket. The seventh one born went right to sleep and Daddy ran in and got Her out of bed to come help wake it up. She got a warm towel and rubbed the little thing and even breathed into its mouth and nose but the baby didn't wake up. Momma was busy having the last kitten which has another problem...Some of his insides are outside but he is fighting for all he is worth to stay with us. She went in and dug out some more clean soft nestings and changed all the wet messy nestings that our new little brothers and sisters were laying in. That made everyone much happier especially Momma.

I can't wait to see how many are brothers and how many are sisters and what color they will be. Right now they are all dark and wet so it is hard to tell. But it looks like this time they are all going to look like Momma instead of Daddy. Daddy is walking around the house singing at the top of his lungs. He is sure a proud pappa! So now instead of being 7 we are now 13 and 1/2. The new babies are so hungry I don't know when we will ever get a good look at them. For now She is back in bed because the construction noise will be starting at 6 am.

For now us sophomores will sleep right above the nursery basket so we can lend our body heat to our brothers and sisters when Momma and Daddy are out of the room. I will sneak the digital camera later when they aren't wet anymore and I will take some photos to post as soon as I can do it without getting caught. The Seniors have stayed out of the nursery since yesterday when Mom got snappy and climbed into the basket. They are on the bed wrapped around Her. But I want to go back and keep my eye on the little one with the problem. I don't know what I can do to help but I feel I need to be there just the same. I will blog more later.

Adora and JR

The family

The Siamese

We Kitties Rule This Roost!

Our human finally went to bed so we are taking over the computer! We DeKitties of DeQwiltylady have friends all over the world and until now we couldn't let them know how we are doing and what we have been up to. At present there are 7 of us. The seniors are L E Oot and LayDeBug a Siamese pair. Then there are the Juniors Rocky who is a Savannah tabby male and Conundrum who is a tuxedo female. Rocky and Conundrum are the proud parents of three sophomores Rocky Junior(JR), LB which sometimes stands for Lover Boy or Little Brother or Little Bitty or sometimes even Little Brat, and Adora who is the explorer of the bunch. The freshmen are due any day now and we all suspect there will be more than three this time as Mom looks like she swallowed a football sideways instead of just a small melon. We will keep you posted as to their arrival and all in future blogs when we can sneak a few minutes on the keyboard when Qwiltylady isn't looking. JR looks mostly like Daddy except for a white throat he got from Mom. LB has Dad's spots and Mom's white feet and chest. Adora used to have charcoal and black stripes but as she gets older she is beginning to be all black and she has the softest silkiest fur.

It is our job to sit in the window and entertain the people who pass by the house we live in. The house was painted lilac a few years back so everyone notices both the house and us. Today we entertained the road construction crews by chasing a fly that was in the window. We were falling all over each other trying to be the one to get the fly but LayDeBug waited for us to chase the fly right to her and then instead of batting it back to us she ate it!

One of our favorite games is tub hockey. A couple of weeks ago our human took up the bath mat from the tub and placed a large smooth rock in the tub. We make a lot of racket knocking it around the tub. When it goes into the drain we score 25 points! But then we have to wait for Daddy to dig it out of the drain. It's a good thing the rock is big enough not to go down the drain or our human would have to call the plumber lots and lots.

All four of the big cats were rescued from shelters or abusive homes but none of us will ever want to leave this house. Our human makes the prettiest quilts you ever seen and she always lets us play and sleep on them. There is no place in the house where we are not allowed. The only rule that we get in trouble for breaking is not messing with her sewing machine while she is messing with it. And our human reads out loud to us all the time, not just short stories but whole books. We also have tons of toys. Besides the catnip mice and scratching posts we have empty thread spools, a string of beads we stole off the Christmas tree last year, empty pill bottles, spinach tie wraps, lots of lanyards, and reusable shopping bags. There are lots more but we don't want Her to know all the things we have procured.

Oh we got to go now Her just got out of the bed and she must not know we are communicating. Have a great day and smile it makes people wonder what you are up to.
